The Cincinnati Bengals released veteran linebacker A.J. Hawk on Tuesday, just over a year after they signed him in free agency.

Hawk spent nine seasons with the Green Bay Packers, then signed a two-year deal with the Bengals last March.

It was a homecoming for Hawk, who grew up in nearby Centerville, Ohio, some 45 minutes north of Cincinnati.

Hawk finished with 24 tackles and a sack in 15 games during the 2015 season.  His 261 snaps and 24 tackles were both career lows.
