Fatal shooting Wednesday night in Town of Madison

May 12, 2016 By WRN Contributor

The Madison area has experienced a third gun homicide in less than a month, with the most recent deaths separated by just over 24 hours.

The victim in Wednesday night’s shooting in the Town of Madison has died. Police say he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Town of Madison Police received calls about shots fired at the Capitol Petro Mart off Rimrock Road Wednesday evening. When police arrived, they found a man who had been shot. Witnesses say they heard at least 10 rounds fired. Police say a suspect was seen running west of the gas station.

Town of Madison police say the relationship between the victim and suspect is unknown at this time. They also are working with the City of Madison Police Department to investigate any possible connections to two fatal shootings in the city. Police say they do have a person of interest but are not releasing any information.

The fatal shooting took place just 26 hours after another man was shot and killed at a gas station on the south side of the city of Madison. It was the city’s 5th homicide of the year, and Madison police chief Mike Koval said the 38-year-old victim and the man who was the city’s 4th homicide victim of the year know one another. Thirty-one-year-oldĀ Martez Moore was shot and killed on April 19 at O’Grady’s Pub Grille in Madison.
