Flatoff could stand trial in August

May 16, 2016 By WRN Contributor

A trial for the suspect in a standoff in downtown Neenah could start in August. A Winnebago County judge is scheduling a two-week trial for 46-year-old Brian Flatoff. It would begin on August 22.

Prosecutors charged Flatoff with a series of felonies for last December’s standoff at Eagle Nation Cycles. Hostage Michael Funk was shot and killed by two Neenah officers, after the 60-year-old Neenah man ran out of a back door.

The state attorney general announced earlier this month that the officers would not face criminal charges. Flatoff is accused of starting the standoff because of a dispute over a motorcycle.

Judge John Jorgenson also scheduled a motion hearing in the case for July 21.
