Madison faculty senate set to consider ‘no confidence’ resolution

May 2, 2016 By Bob Hague

UW Madison faculty will decide today on whether to approve a “no confidence” resolution on UW System leadership. The UW Madison Faculty Senate will consider the resolution this afternoon. Last week, Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke termed the resolution “a hissy fit.”

The resolution’s author is professor Chad Alan Goldberg. “It troubles me very, very much when powerful politicians use their power to threaten the faculty for speaking our minds,” Goldberg said.

The resolution condemns UW System President Ray Cross and the Board of Regents for supporting new tenure policies. Goldberg said the faculty senate could approve it as written, amend it, or vote it down.
