Oshkosh group looking to become Bucks D-League affiliate

May 26, 2016 By Bill Scott

Milwaukee Bucks logo 10The last time the city of Oshkosh had pro basketball was back in 1987.  The Wisconsin Flyers disbanded then.

According to a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel report, Windward Wealth Strategies, an Oshkosh wealth management firm is trying to change that.  They are competing against other Midwestern cities to land a Milwaukee Bucks affiliate team.

Windward would need to build a 3,500-seat arena for the team.  The group is currently analyzing different locations for a new arena and is expected to submit plans by the end of June.  The project could go higher than $4-million but would be funded entirely with private money.

There are currently 22 D-League teams.  Only eight of the NBA’s current teams, including the Bucks, will be without a D-League team.

Last season, the Bucks assigned players to other clubs’ D-League affiliates.  They’re hoping to have their own team by the fall of 2017.
