Wild pitch costs Brewers against the Giants

June 15, 2016 By Bill Scott

Brewers logoBack-to-back wild pitches from Milwaukee Brewers reliever Will Smith in the 7th inning plated the winning run as the San Francisco Giants pulled out a 3-2 victory on Tuesday night at AT&T Park.

Madison Bumgarner was at the plate in the 7th when Smith uncorked two wild pitches to give the Giants the win.  It’s the 10th straight victory for San Francisco when Bumgarner is on the mound.

It wasn’t easy for San Francisco.  The Giants went 2-for-12 with runners in scoring position and left 13 men on base.

Matt Garza made his first start of the season for the Brewers after missing the first 2 1/2 months with a strained lat muscle behind his pitching shoulder.  Garza held the Giants to a run over four innings but allowed eight hits and a walk, as he pitched himself out of trouble throughout.

Jonathan Lucroy clubbed his 10th home run of the season for the Brewers in the loss.

The Brewers will try to avoid a sweep when Jimmy Nelson takes the mound this afternoon in the series finale against San Francisco’s Johnny Cueto.
