Eau Claire County approves living wage ordinance

The Eau Claire County Board has approved a living wage ordinance for contractors doing business with the county. The ordinance passed with a vote of 18 to 11. Supervisors also approved three separate amendments.

The ordinance will pay contractors and other employees who work for the county financial assistance, along with getting paid $11.68 an hour. That rate will increase annually by over 3% t through 2021 to 115% of the federal poverty income rate. The 3 amendments cover everything from child care to professional services for the county.
