It’s a simple gesture, but one much appreciated by law enforcement after events of the past week. Someone left a small bouquet at the base of the flag pole at the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department with a note of support: “Thank you all for what you do. God bless all of you”

“It touches us,” said Sheriff Brad Hardel. “It kind of reaffirms what we’re doing. We try very hard to make sure that we do the right thing, and to get somthing that says ‘hey thank you for what you do,’ it means a lot.

Hardel said officer safety is always his top priority, and in the wake of recent attacks on officers around the country, those safety protocols are constantly being reinforced

Five Dallas officers were killed when police came under attack last Thursday, and a Racine man is in custody after threatening, in a social media post, to shoot officers.
