Possible future players for the Milwaukee Bucks will not be cutting their teeth in Grand Chute.
The town was one of five finalists for a Developmental League team, but was quickly eliminated from contention. Town Chair Dave Schowalter said the Bucks are looking for a 2,500 seat arena – something the community would not be able to provide in time. “The building that they’re looking for is pretty much something on the fast track, and we couldn’t meet their needs,” he said.
Town administrator Jim March said they looked at the possibility of building an arena for the team, but the Bucks needed it to be ready by next fall and that was too short of a timeline.
La Crosse was also eliminated as a possibility. Oshkosh, Sheboygan, and Racine were the other initial finalists.
