The 2016 Northwoods League Playoffs are set to start tonight. Eight teams will vie for a trip to the Summer Collegiate World Series.
Four teams from Wisconsin are among the final eight.
In the North, Eau Claire will play host to Mankato.
In the South, Wisconsin Rapids will play host to Lake Shore and Madison is home against Battle Creek.
The first two rounds are single elimination and will take place Monday and Tuesday nights. Wednesday is an off day with the start of a best-of-three summer league championship series starting on Thursday.
NW League Expansion
The Northwoods League is expanding to Fond du Lac in the Spring of 2017.
The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and Marian College announced a partnership to bring a new team into the league in 2017. Fond du Lac becomes the 9th team located in Wisconsin.
The new ownership team will soon seek the public’s input on a nickname for the team.
