Perez leads Brewers comeback

August 24, 2016 By Bill Scott

Brewers logoHernan Perez clubbed a two-out, two-run triple to right field in the seventh inning, leading  the Milwaukee Brewers 6-4 come-from-behind win over the Colorado Rockies at Miller Park.

Rookie Brent Suter earned his first big league victory and reliever Corey Knebel earned his first Major League save by closing out the ninth inning.

The Brewers ran their win streak to three straight games.

The Rockies elected to intentionally walk Ryan Braun to face Perez in the seventh.  Perez was 0 for 3 with two strikeouts on the night.  Perez fell behind 0-2, then reached out and slapped a 98 mile per hour fastball to right  to give the Brewers a 5-4 lead.

The Brewers will play for the sweep this afternoon when they host the Rockies at 1:10 p.m.  Zach Davies, who struggled his last time out against the Chicago Cubs, will make the start for the Brewers today.

Minor League rehab stints

The Brewers have three players that are ready to head out on minor league rehab stints.  Pitchers Junior Guerra and Jacob Barnes and infielder Will Middlebrooks will all head out to the minor leagues over the new few days to get some work in.

Middlebrooks could be headed for Class A Wisconsin and Guerra appears to be headed to Class AAA Colorado Springs.  The Brewers are still trying to determine where Barnes will start his rehab assignment.
