Wisconsin ranked as nation’s top party school

August 29, 2016 By Bob Hague

It’s a dubious distinction for a campus and a state where alcohol abuse is a serious public health challenge – the University of Wisconsin is ranked first on a list of the nation’s top party schools for the coming 2017 school year. The ranking comes from the Princeton Review, a New York-based tutoring and test prep company that surveys thousands of students and rates colleges in a number of categories each year.

A statement from the university notes that as at many institutions of higher education “high-risk alcohol use on campus remains a pressing public health concern that negatively impacts campus safety and student’s academic progress and well-being.”

The Princeton Review’s number one ranking is the first for UW-Madison in a decade. Wisconsin was ranked third last year. Rounding out the top five party schools are West Virginia University, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Lehigh University and Bucknell University.
