September 29, 2016 By WRN Contributor

mpdshieldA man in his 20s is hospitalized after being gunned down in the street Wednesday morning on Madison’s South Side. Madison Police continue to search for a suspect following a the gunfire in the 2700  block of Mc Divitt Road, which is in the Todd Drive area.

Police spokesman Joel Despain said Wednesday that at least 20 shell casings were recovered. Residents first heard shots just after 9:30 a.m. One neighbor saw several vehicles drive away from the scene and the victim was lying in the street.

As a precaution, Leopold Elementary School and some area businesses were put on lockdown. Police Chief Mike Koval said the shooting was not random and that a suspect and the victim appeared to have some sort of prior relationship. The area has had several shots fired incidents in recent weeks.
