Relatively safe September on Wisconsin roads

October 4, 2016 By Bob Hague

Forty-five people died in traffic crashes in Wisconsin last month, far fewer than usual for September. According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, traffic fatalities last month were 23 fewer than September last year and 13 fewer than the five-year average.

Last month tied for the safest month of September in terms of traffic deaths in the state since the end of World War II. However, through the end of September, 440 people have died in Wisconsin traffic crashes. That’s 18 more than the same period in 2015 and 28 more than the five-year average.
