Nine registered sex offenders will spend Halloween in jail due to non-compliance with the rules governing their release. The Wisconsin Department of Corrections and US Marshals patrolled the Milwaukee area Sunday to make sure sex offenders didn’t have their homes decorated, have costumes, or hand out candy.
Sex offenders who are not allowed to have contact with underage children are told to keep their porch lights off and not to participate in trick-or-treating activities.
The nine were arrested before Milwaukee’s official trick-or-treating hours Sunday afternoon between 1:00pm and 4 pm. Sex offenders are warned to be inside one hour before until one hour after trick-or-treating.
Last year 8 sex offenders were arrested in a similar crackdown. Last year’s spot-checks involved visited more than 140 registered offenders.
