The Green Bay women’s basketball team fell just short in their upset bid over top-ranked Notre Dame in South Bend.  The Phoenix fell 71-67 to the Irish in the Preseason WNIT semifinals.

Junior Jessica Lindstrom enjoyed a career night, pouring in 20 points and pulling down 16 rebounds in 39 minutes, all career highs.

Green Bay fell behind 7-0 early and trailed by 11-points at halftime.  The two teams were nearly even in the third quarter and the Phoenix trailed by 12 heading to the fourth quarter.

The Phoenix then started chipping away at the Fighting Irish, but Notre Dame held off the Green Bay rally to advance to the Preseason WNIT Championship game.

Mehryn Kraker added 14 points.  Jen Wellnitz had nine points and Sam Terry and Allie LeClaire each added seven points.

The Phoenix fell to 2-1 and will head to Tennessee for matchups against Belmont and Chattanooga next week.
