Despite speculation his position could be in jeopardy, House Republicans have voted to stick with Speaker Paul Ryan.
The Janesville Republican was unanimously re-nominated to the position Tuesday by the House GOP. He still faces a vote by all 435 members of the House of Representatives, which will take place in January.
The speaker had faced questions about his future, following backlash from Republicans for not fully supporting President-elect Donald Trump during the campaign. Those concerns seemed to dissipate though, after Trump won and Ryan called for the GOP to unite behind him.
In a statement posted to Twitter, Ryan called his nomination a tremendous honor and promised it’s now time to “go big.”
