Interstate crash kills one, injures five

November 7, 2016 By Andrew Beckett

statepatrollogoOne man has died and five other people were injured in an Interstate crash near Portage in Columbia County.

The State Patrol says a minivan was going west on I-90/94 about 3:10 Monday morning when it swerved to avoid hitting a deer carcass — and the vehicle slid off and on the freeway, flipped on the right shoulder, and landed in a ditch.

The crash killed a 28-year-old man, who was ejected from the vehicle. The driver, a 34-year-old man, and the other four adults in the vehicle all had non-life threatening injuries.

The State Patrol did not say where any of the victims were from. Their names were not immediately released.
