Pedestrian killed on Madison Beltline identified

November 23, 2016 By WRN Contributor

A pedestrian killed on Madison’s Beltline freeway has been identified as 26-year-old Dustin Dilks of Madison. The Dane County medical examiner’s office said Dilks appeared to have died from injuries received when he was hit by a motor vehicle. Additional tests are being performed.

Madison Police said Dilks put up a hand as a car was approaching, but the motorist was unable to stop. Investigators are not sure why Dilks was on the road at the time early Monday morning.

The death, which took place on the far right eastbound lane of Highway 12/18 on Madison’s far west side, closed to all eastbound lanes for about four hours. The incident remains under investigation.
