Who should lead the Democratic National Committee? Debbie Wasserman Schultz presided over disastrous losses as DNC chair, and now the job is up for grabs. “I’m looking for a candidate that has a vision to really lead our party forward, that will help our party grow to win elections in 2018 and 2020,” said Jason Raye, a Wisconsin delegate to the DNC.
“We need a chair right now that is full time, that is able to be on the ground across the country every day over the next four years,” Raye said.
So far there are two candidates so far — former Vermont governor Howard Dean and Minnesota congressman Keith Ellison. “I’m not ruling anybody out. I will welcome the conversation with all of the potential candidates as they enter race, and I’ll make my mind up once I see the final field,” Raye said.
Dean was DNC chair from 2005-2009. Ellison is one of two Muslims serving in Congress.
