Teen shot while hunting in Oconto County

November 25, 2016 By WRN Contributor

Officials with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says a teenage boy is expected to recover after being shot in the leg while hunting.

The incident happened around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday north of Suring in Oconto County.

The 14-year-old boy was shot by a 16-year-old boy in his hunting party. Officials say they are investigating the incident and no citations have been given at this time.

During the nine-day gun deer season’s opening weekend, the DNR says there were no fatal shooting incidents. There were three other reports of non-fatal hunting shooting injuries – one in Waukesha County and two in Taylor County.
