Gov. Scott Walker
Governor Scott Walker has been elected chairman of the Republican Governors Association.
Walker was elected Wednesday at an RGA meeting in Florida, with South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley named vice chair of the group. In a statement, Walker said he looks forward to building on the organization’s momentum with the two gubernatorial races coming up in 2017 and 36 in 2018.
“All across America, Republican chief executives are fighting for everyday Americans, and I am proud to serve in this role to help the RGA elect more of these outstanding leaders,” Walker said in a statement.
Walker’s tenure could bring a boost to his own plans to continue as Wisconsin’s governor. While he has not yet made an official decision about running again, Walker is up for re-election in two years.
