Wisconsin’s House delegation will have just one new member next year. In northeast Wisconsin’s 8th Congressional District, where GOP U.S. Representative Reid Ribble is retiring, Republican Mike Gallagher defeated Outagamie County Executive Tom Nelson, a Democrat.
House Speaker Paul Ryan was also a winner. “I am so eager to get back to get back to work for you, to on with fixing our country’s problems,” Ryan told supporters in Janesville. “We have so much potential in this country.” Less clear is Ryan’s potential for hanging on to his job as Speaker, given his tepid support for Donald Trump.
U.S. Representatives Mark Pocan and Gwen Moore, both Democrats, held on to their seats. Sean Duffy, Jim Sensenbrenner and Glenn Grothman each won their re-election races.
