Walker: state could support Milwaukee youth prison

December 5, 2016 By Bob Hague

Governor Scott Walker says the state could provide some help for a juvenile facility in Milwaukee County. Walker acknowledged that Lincoln Hills is a challenging location for family members of juvenile inmates to visit — and understands there is interest in a local facility.

“If they wanted to do something within Milwaukee County we’d be very open to that,” Walker said on Friday.

Walker said there may be some one-time state support available. “Where we might be willing to partner with them is if they were going to either build or retrofit a facility,” he said.

Allegations of misconduct at the youth correctional facilities in Lincoln County led to an investigation and the departure of the administrator there.
