Army vet from Ripon will lead state veterans agency

Governor Walker has selected Daniel Zimmerman of Ripon to lead the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs.

The governor ordered Zimmerman, a retired lieutenant colonel, and military intelligence officer in the U.S. Army, to immediately review the operations of the state’s veterans homes.

Zimmerman takes over for longtime secretary John Scocos, who resigned last November amid accusations of mismanagement at the veterans home in King.
