Walker signs school safety bill

March 27, 2018 By WRN Contributor

Governor Scott Walker has signed a school safety package. The GOP governor signed the $100 million plan into law Monday at an elementary school in Kaukaua.

It picked up plenty of Democratic support in the legislature, despite criticisms that it does nothing to curtail access to guns.

The new law does provide school districts with grants for building improvements and staff training under the oversight of the state Department of Justice. It does not provide for arming teachers.
