DNR to recommend more doe hunts for 2018

May 11, 2018 By Raymond Neupert

Northwoods hunters may have better chances to bag a doe this fall.

The Department of Natural Resources is going to ask the Natural Resources Board to only impose buck only restrictions in Iron County for the upcoming deer season.

Buck only hunts had been in place in four counties last year, and were much more widespread over the past several years.

The move is a sign that state biologists are confident of a rebound in deer populations in the Northwoods.
