More western Wisconsin residents are turning to food pantries to help with their bottom lines.

Donna Wishowski of Indianhead Community Action Agency says they’ve seen a huge up-tick in people needing help. In the two years she’s been with the group, she says food pantry use has tripled.

Still, Wishowski says some struggling families may be reluctant to take advantage of the services being offered. She says those having trouble paying essential expenses, such as their electric bill, need to remember that food pantries can help them stretch their dollar further.

Indianhead serves six northwestern Wisconsin counties.
