Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk has been elected to a fourth four-year term. Challenger Nancy Mistele outperformed Falk in many rural areas, but the incumbent prevailed in many of the larger communities.

Public safety was a major issue in the campaign as Mistele portrayed Falk’s leadership as a factor in the county’s mishandling of a 911 call from a UW student prior to her murder.

In Falk’s victory speech she says she plans on redoubling her focus on the misuse of alcohol and on public safety, as well as developing good jobs, clean energy and clean lakes.

Mistele is urging supporters to continue to fight for her causes in future City Council and County Board races.
