Packers weightroom When it comes to lifting weights, it's not how much you lift, it's the frequency and efficiency that count most.  That's the word from new Green Bay Packers Strength and Conditioning coordinator Dave Redding.

Media members were invited Wednesday to check out the Packers weight room and the changes that have been made in the offseason workout program since Dave Redding took over after the season.

Under Redding's weight lifting plan, efficiency is a key.  He and his staff have designed a program that gives the individual athletes some freedom and flexibility.  It allows players to take ownership in how they work out, which Redding said will make for better results.

The offseason program started March 16th with players working out on Monday's, Tuesday's, Thursday's and Friday's. Wednesday's and the weekend are now off under the program.  Each workout lasts just under two hours.

The program is designed to have players peaking by the start of organized team activities (OTA's) in late May.  It's designed to promote durability and prevent the nagging injuries that plagued the Packers during their 6-10 season a year ago.

Redding said the players have embraced the program and are excited to see the results when the season gets underway.
