The state is launching a new pilot program to help W-2 participants find permanent jobs.

The "Real Work for Real Pay" program will place 100 workers into manufacturing and service jobs in Milwaukee, Kenosha, and Marathon Counties. The pilot project will subsidize the salaries of those positions for the first four months, while also providing service to help workers adjust to the work environment. Department of Workforce Development executive assistant Hector Colon says the goal of the program is have those positions become permanent after the subsidies end.

Colon says the project will help determine what role the state can play in helping W-2 participants gain the skills and experience they need to find work. The project is also designed to show what incentives help get employers involved in offering work to W-2 participants.
