A national report gives Wisconsin a perfect score on preparedness for health-related emergencies.

The report from the Trust for America's Health scored states in 10 categories related to their ability to respond in the event of a major health crisis. Department of Health Services spokeswoman Stephanie Smiley says Wisconsin received top marks in each area, which include having plans to distribute emergency vaccines, established pandemic planning requirements for state health labs, and having an electronic disease tracking system.

Smiley says the high scores are the result of a lot of planning and coordination by the state.

Wisconsin was one of only five states to land a perfect 10. The average state score was 7.
