Constituents get a reminder from transportation officials as spring elections approach.
Election Day is right around the corner (April 6) and motorists are noticing the familiar sight of campaign signs. Those pleas-for-votes can be a problem when they interfere with a driver’s ability to travel safely.
Wisconsin Department of Transportation officials say those signs of support can be a distraction for motorists. The DOT reminds candidates and campaign volunteers about sign placement restrictions.
It’s illegal to slap those signs on state maintained land, including along state highways and in the medians. Political signs are allowed on private property as long as they are less than 32 square feet in size and have no flashing lights or moving parts.
