The loss of their main attraction could make it tough for some Lake Delton resorts to survive. Especially now that it appears it will take some time to fill the lake up again.

State Representative Doc Hines (R-Oxford) represents the area hit hard by heavy rains, which caused Lake Delton to overflow its banks and then empty into the Wisconsin River. He says some people may still visit the resorts this summer, but many businesses will find themselves closed because the lake is gone.

Hines is confident though that federal disaster relief will be approved for resorts and other businesses hit hard by flood waters. He says the devastation at Lake Delton should qualify, based on the unbelievable damage that was caused.
Hines is also encouraged by the fact that over 90-percent of the businesses in the Lake Delton and Wisconsin Dells area remain open.
