A bill to prohibit insurance companies from using credit scores when setting premiums hits a roadblock in the Legislature.

Insurance companies could no longer use credit reports when setting premiums, under the bill approved by the state Senate last week. However, it's going nowhere in the Assembly though, according to State Representative Frank Lasee (R-Green Bay).

Lasee chairs the Assembly Insurance Committee, where the bill would need to be approved before a floor vote could happen. He says the sponsors of the measure are unwilling to compromise, so he has not plans to advance it before the Legislature adjourns this spring.
