Aaron Rodgers says sports can bring us together. The Green Bay Packers quarterback was serious while speaking with reporters on Wednesday, after staying up late watching election night coverage.

“I went out and voted, and I knew it was going to be a historic night either way,” Rodgers said. “I hope as a country we can now come together and work a little better with each other. Obviously there are some people who are rightfully so worried about the direction of the country now.”

Rodgers said he thinks sports can help. “It doesn’t erase big events that have happened,” he said. “I think when you saw President Bush throw out the first pitch after 9-11 . . . that was a powerful time for our country. Sports can do that at times.”

Would Rodgers run for office? “I’m just trying to play football right now.” The Packers travel to Tennessee this weekend to take on the Titans.
