Some legislators are trying to repeal a state statute against abortion, but Wisconsin Right to Life will lobby hard to keep it on the books.

The law criminalizing abortion has been unenforceable since Roe vs. Wade in 1973. Susan Armacost of Wisconsin Right to Life says they've successfully defended the measure in the past, but there are concerns now that Democrats control the Legislature and the Governor's office. She says the group will be tripling its efforts to make sure the criminal penalties stay on the books.

Armacost says it's important for penalties against abortion doctors to stay in place, in case Roe vs. Wade is overturned.

Supporters of the repeal say it's an archaic law that's an insult to women's rights.
