Prosecutors have struck a deal with a former Wausau police officer who's accused of trying to kill his estranged wife. Chueng Lee pleaded no contest to lesser charges of recklessly causing great bodily harm, and reckless driving causing great bodily harm. Authorities say he forced his wife, Chao Lee, to get into a vehicle, then deliberately drove the vehicle into a bridge. She suffered several broken bones.

"We felt our case went very well, and quite frankly they (the defense) blinked," said Shawano County District Attorney Greg Parker.

Parker also said Chao is interested in keeping the family together which he believes was another reason Chueng accepted the deal. Lee could get up to 16 years in prison. The DA says he will recommend Lee serve up to eight years in prison when he's sentenced August 5th.
