A teacher’s assistant in Racine’s school district is facing charges of inappropriately touching a nine-year-old student. Lewis Givens, 35, is accused of touching the girl on three separate occasions while working with Cognitively Disabled Students at Olympia Brown elementary school.
The charging document says another staff member witnessed each incident. Givens is being held at the Racine County Jail until his preliminary hearing a week from today. If convicted “as charged,” the maximum penalty is 132-years in prison.
Givens is now banned from all Racine Unified facilities, with the district doing its own investigation.
