The Police Chief in Lake Delton says the two women accusing a Green Bay Packers player of sexual assault changed their statements during the investigation.
Chief Tom Dorner says they initially told officers they were held down and assaulted by more than one person, but later said there was only one assailant involved. Dorner says it’s “obviously a little bit problematic” to have such a big difference in what they remember and who was involved.
Police have not released the name of the player being accused.
Lake Delton police were called to a condo early Saturday morning after receiving a 911 call around 4:15. Investigators brought seven Packers in for interviews, and cleared six of them of any criminal wrongdoing. Dorner says the seventh player claims the sexual contact with the women was consensual.
The investigation is being forwarded to the Sauk County District Attorney without any recommendation on whether to file charges.
