Questions linger after a murder-suicide in Edgerton. Julie Ellingson is the aunt of Jennifer Vordemann, and believes her 24 year-old niece was shot and killed by her suicidal husband, Shuan Vordermann, 25. Their bodies were found in their Edgerton home Monday. "This is a terrible tragedy, and we mourn the loss of Shuan as well," says Ellingson. "I think it's a tragedy that might have been averted."
Ellingonson says after an episode Saturday night, police took Sean Vorderman to Rock County's mental health center. She claims officers knowingly left a loaded gun behind, and believes Sean was released from the center too soon: "How could he be out in half an hour? Jenny told my daughter he was out in 35 minutes. I don't understand what kind of evaluation could have taken place in 35 minutes."
Sean Vorderman was also the subject of a check welfare call at the couple's home last Wednesday. Julie Ellingson says her niece told Shaun on Sunday she was leaving him. They'd been together for six years, but married for less than a year. Ellingson says the last contact the family had with Jennifer was around 9 on Sunday night, as she was getting preparing to go to bed. The couple's bodies were found around 8:00 Monday morning.
