Forecasters say metro Milwaukee could accumulate 18 inches of snow by the time is stops Monday evening. Milwaukee officially recorded 13 inches of snow between midnight and 11 am. The area around Mitchell International Airport, the city’s official weather station, is being hit the hardest
The massive snowfall was unexpected, according to Mitchell spokesman Ryan McAdams. However there is a plus side to the winter mess, this time around as the morning snowfall was light and easy to clear says McAdams. Heavier, wet snow really slows down operations at the airport.
McAdams says southeast Wisconsin is not the only area that airline travelers needed to be concerned with as the east coast was pounded with storm conditions which lead to problems for passengers coming to or from there. He suggests you consult your airline or the airport's website if you are using the Milwaukee area airport.
