The woman accused in the poisoning and beating death of her boyfriend’s dog will be heading to trial later this month. Prosecutors could not work out a plea deal with 21-year-old Sean Janas at a Tuesday hearing on the case. She’s now set for a four day trial July 29.

Police say Janas poisoned and slit the throat of her boyfriend’s dog in June of 2012. Police say she kept a diary of the attacks, and detailed the abuse of the dog over several months. That trial had been set for May 1st, but Janas fired her attorney in March.

If convicted on all charges, Janas faces five years in prison and $30,000 in fines. She’s currently in jail on a $2,500 cash bond.
