A Racine man accused of taking a woman’s keys then using them to enter her home and sexually assault her appeared in court Monday afternoon. 39-year-old Timothy Kosterman is facing several charges, including two counts of first degree sexual assault while armed, armed burglary and theft. Kosterman’s bond was set at 100-thousand dollars and he’s scheduled to return to court August 12th for a preliminary hearing.
The 23-year-old victim called police about 5:30 Saturday morning saying someone had gotten into her home touched her while she slept, cut off her clothing and then, with the knife to her neck, raped her twice. A security recording, provided by the tavern, clearly showed a man take the woman’s keys from the bar and put them in his pocket.
Kosterman denied being involved, but told investigators he blacks out when he drinks heavily, and that he “hoped” he didn’t do it. The investigation into the incident continues.
