Investigations are underway into an alleged physical confrontation between two state Supreme Court Justices. They’re based on claims that Supreme Court Justice David Prosser put Justice Ann Walsh Bradley in a chokehold during a confrontation in her office.
The incident allegedly took place on the evening of June 13th in front of other Justices, as they met to discuss a court opinion on the Governor’s controversial collective bargaining law. That opinion was released the day after and invalidated a lower court ruling that had blocked the law from taking effect.
In a statement, Capitol Police Chief Charles Tubbs said the decision was made to hand over the case to the Dane County Sheriff’s office after consulting with members of the court about the incident. The Sheriff’s office would only confirm an investigation has been opened.
The Wisconsin Judicial Commission has also confirmed that it has authorized an investigation into the matter, but offered no further comment at this time.
