With traffic fatalities down in the state so far this year, law enforcement is getting an early holiday start on making sure they don't go up.

It's a special state-wide effort they're calling the Booze and Belts Mobilization. The DOT came up with name because it focuses on drunk driving and violators of the state's mandatory seat belt law, according to the DOT's Steve Olson.

Olson says there are a hundred fewer traffic fatalities than a year ago this time and the State Patrol hopes to get out an early warning for people attending those holiday parties to keep it that way. If you feel a little tipsy, celebrated too much then give your keys to someone else or find another way home.

The Booze and Belts crackdown continues through next Sunday but Olson says driving sober and buckling up are something to remember year round.
