An investigation into an animal neglect complaint leads to drug charges for two Janesville residents.
Janesville Police says officers responded to a home on February 19, based on a report that a dog had been left unattended inside for a long period of time. Officers entered the residence the next day to get the dog, and discovered marijuana and drug paraphernalia in plain view.
The Janesville Police Department Street Crimes Unit was able to obtain a search warrant for the house, which turned up eight pounds of marijuana. When the residents, 30-year-olds Karla M Salazar and Jorge Humberto Salazar-Cruz came home on February 23, officers placed them under arrest.
The investigation determined that they left the dog alone in the house for several days while they were out of state.
The two are both facing charges of possession with intent to deliver and maintaining a drug house.
