Another reminder to sign up — or re-sign up — to the NoCall list.
If you're regularly annoyed by telemarketers, you might want to take this opportunity to sign up to the state's No Call List. Also, Glen Loyd with Wisconsin Consumer Protection says you might even save money by putting your cell phone on the list.
"We're getting more complaints from consumers saying that they've been telemarketed on their cell phone, and of course that costs the cell phone owner for the call."
The sooner you sign up, the sooner you're protected. The deadline is the end of August to be on the October edition. Otherwise, you won't reduce unwanted calls until January. Loyd says, even if you're on the list, sign up again before you fall off.
"A lot of people don't remember that they have to sign up … every two years."
You can sign up any time, seven days a week, 24 hours a day, and it's free. Call 1866-9-NoCall, or visit NoCallWisconsin.gov . Loyd suggests you make the call on your birthday every year, as an easy reminder to get on the No Call List to help ward off telemarketers.
Currently 1.1 million numbers are on Wisconsin's No Call List and consumers have already signed up over 92,000 cell phones.
