An Oshkosh businessman is joining the list of those who want to unseat Democrat Russ Feingold in U.S. Senate.

Ron Johnson on Monday became the fourth Republican candidate to join the race against Feingold, saying “Obama Care” was the reason for his decision. Johnson owns a medical device company and says the national health care reform legislation threatens his business.

He says it’s essential to maintain freedom in our health care system so the free market will continue to develop new drugs, new devices, and new treatments. Johnson says that’s being threatened by the reforms passed by Congress.

Johnson will face Madison developer Terrence Wall, Watertown businessman David Westlake, and former state Commerce Secretary Dick Leinenkugel in a September primary. He says he’s happy to let the voters of Wisconsin decide, after he’s had a chance to convey his true character and qualifications.
