The state's minimum wage was raised two years ago and Senator Russ Decker (D-Weston) says it's time to do it again.

He's introduced a bill that would increase it from $6.50 and hour to $7.25 and index it for inflation.

Even though it's only been two years, Decker says it needs to go up again so employees can try to keep up with the rising cost of health care, gasoline and other necessities.

Decker does expect a legislative fight from republicans and some business owners. But Decker says it's the right thing to do and some businesses have always objected to change whether it was child labor laws, forty hour work week or workers' compensation.

Decker says most companies pay more than minimum wage anyway and he thinks the owners' financial impact would be minimal while helping  out those employees who do get the minimum.

He's already introduced a bill that's waiting a committee hearing.
